Local Sports

Portland is home to three major league sports teams, the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association, the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer, and the Portland Thorns FC of the National Women's Soccer League. The Portland Thorns FC is an American professional women's soccer team based in Portland, Oregon. Established in 2012, the team began play in 2013 in the then-eight-team National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). The Thorns have had the highest average attendance in the league in each of their first eight regular seasons. They achieved the club’s highest-ever attendance record, filling the venue to its 25,218 person capacity.
